A handcrafted statement pendant made in the UK, a genuine uvarovite garnet stone, wire-encased in oxidised copper with a woven bail and wrapping all around the stone to hold it in place. Overall pendant size 32x65mm.

Vivid, sparkling emerald green, uvarovite is one of the rarest and most striking of the garnet family, its surface covered in tiny druzy crystals that catch the light with an almost jewel-like intensity. The genuine stone, measuring 32x65mm overall (with bail), is held securely in place by copper wire wrapping all the way around it, the wirework following the stone’s form and keeping the focus firmly on that extraordinary green surface. The bail is woven with fine copper wire. The whole piece is treated with liver of sulphur for a rich, dark earthy finish, the deep oxidised copper providing a dramatic contrast that makes the vivid green of the uvarovite truly pop.

Design Notes

The uvarovite garnet stone is held in place by copper wire wrapping all the way around it, shaped to follow the stone’s form and secure it without obscuring the surface. The bail is woven with fine copper wire. The copper is treated with liver of sulphur to force natural oxidisation. Copper will naturally darken further over time and can be buffed with a wire brush to restore its warmth. As each piece is made around a unique stone, no two pendants are ever the same.
