A handcrafted statement pendant made in the UK, a genuine Seftonite stone in a long, narrow form, wire-encased in oxidised copper with a woven bail and modern twisted wire detail running mainly down one side with a smaller detail on the other. Overall pendant size 25x70mm.

Deep forest green with rich red speckled inclusions, Seftonite, a variety of bloodstone, has a bold, striking character that has been prized since ancient times. The genuine stone, has a long, slender form that gives the pendant a graceful, elongated silhouette. The bail is woven with fine copper wire, and modern twisted wire details run mainly down one side of the stone with a smaller flourish on the other, an asymmetric, contemporary approach that frames the stone’s length beautifully. The whole piece is treated with liver of sulphur for a rich, dark earthy finish that deepens the drama of the green and red stone.

This is a one-of-a-kind piece, not made to order. As a natural stone, every Seftonite has its own unique green and red patterning. Once it’s gone, it’s gone.

Design Notes

The Seftonite stone is encased in raw copper wire shaped to follow the stone’s long, narrow form. The bail is woven with fine copper wire, with modern twisted wire details running mainly down one side of the stone and a smaller detail on the other, an asymmetric design that complements the elongated silhouette. The copper is treated with liver of sulphur to force natural oxidisation. Copper will naturally darken further over time and can be buffed with a wire brush to restore its warmth. As each piece is made around a unique stone, no two pendants are ever the same.
